Julu Gin was born in the small garden of an old lane house on Julu Road in Shanghai, inspired by a desire for a flavorful gin that showcases China’s rich array of botanicals and spices while honoring the traditional juniper flavor. This exceptional craft gin reflects our commitment to local heritage and innovation.
In 2022, we launched our first small batch of Julu Gin on Chongming Island, our ancestral family home. Through experimentation with a unique blend of dark spices, vibrant citrus, and delicate florals, we crafted two main varieties: Julu Dry Gin and Julu Silk Road Gin. Both of these Shanghai gin varieties are distilled in small batches using a custom-built copper still.
Committed to creating an authentically local product, our recipes draw on Chinese culture and its long-standing tradition of blending spices and herbs into cuisine and aromatics. The creative visuals of our brand are inspired by traditional Jinshan folk art. Both gins have received accolades at prestigious global competitions, including the IWSC, LSC, SFWSC, and HKIWSC.
Since our launch, we have been delighted to share Julu Gin with enthusiasts at pop-up events, food and drink festivals, and private gatherings, celebrating the joy of gin in every sip.
